Why this American Truth Commission
The American Revolution electrified a world audience. Its Declaration of Independence and advocacy of human freedom inspired many people living in an oft-inhumane world. In the two hundred-plus years since, the United States of America has been recognized as a leader of human advancement.
People from throughout the world still yearn to come to or live in our country.
American ingenuity continues to create positive transformations in the lives of people throughout the world.
Such ingenuity is found positively-focused representatives of United States business and government.
To the humane social spirit to be found in the people of the United States of America!
Fot that is democracy—humanity’s humane spirit.
To the United States of America at our best!
The people of The United States of America deserve to take pride in the history of the country’s positive effect upon humanity since their nation’s spiritual Declaration of Independence was made in 1776. The words in favor of human freedoms to be found in the Declaration, in the preamble to the United States Constitution and in the constitutional Bill of Rights has inspired people the world over to this day.
And yet countless pieces of government legislation denying United States citizens their full human rights, legislation based on antisocial intolerance and a denial of responsibility for the wellbeing of one’s society, have been passed and have been accepted for further legislative review.
Such antisocial American conduct has been at center stage of United States government from the beginning of the human slave-owning population.
Our country, the United States of America is guilty of great inhumane, antidemocratic crimes Since 1898, tens of millions of men, women and children have been injured, killed, maimed, orphaned, raped and tortured worldwide as a result of our country’s own antidemocratic wrongs.
We must improve upon how we conduct ourselves in the world.
As a free people, we also bear responsibility for our country’s actions—both positive and negative.
Many Americans are aware that their country’s actions in Iraq, Vietnam and elsewhere shows that not every action taken by “we, the people” has had a positive effect on our country and on a multitude of other human beings throughout the world.
Many of those Americans who are aware of the history of U.S. antidemocratic conduct defend it proudly as “The American Way.”
Many of those Americans who have known that their country’s wars to be grave national mistakes in Southeast Asia in the 1960s and 1970s, in Central America in the 1980s and in the Middle East since then have done everything they can to help change their country’s inhumane violent conduct.
Our nation’s present remains a far cry away from our country’s goals to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our prosperity.
At this time, as it has for many years, the greatest domestic antidemocratic social force is the national Republican Party.
Although the Democratic Party’s governance of United States government has suffered from the same violent, antisocial spirit as the Republican Party, the Republican Party’s ceaseless attacks upon citizen voting rights and social welfare programs defines a clear and present danger to world democracy.
President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party are complicit in other inhumane matters. The continued existence of the Guatanamo Bay military detention center and the use of military drone strikes to kill military targets has increased sharply in the Barack Obama administration, along with an ever growing list of innocent civilians.
But since Richard Nixon and his party’s “Southern strategy” of winning over racist Southern Democrats, the Republican Party has come to harbor every great religious and social prejudice and hate possible towards non-Caucasian Americans heterosexuals.
The Republican Party’s chokehold upon the social democratic spirit that is at front and center of United States democracy must be removed.
A goal of this American Truth Commission shall be convincing every American to not vote for Republican political candidates effective immediately.
Human history shows that societies can advance beyond great wrongs through the “truth and reconciliation” process. Such “truth commissions” occurred after the fall of dictatorial rule in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Columbia and Chile. South Africa convened a Truth and Reconciliation Commission after the fall of racist “apartheid rule” in that country. Its commission is considered to be a model for such social action.
As the United States government and the American people have shown little inclination to address the full extent of our nation’s historic antidemocratic conduct, this American Truth Commission is formed by the establishment of a non-governmental organization in the form of a limited liability company.
This American Truth Commission, then, will be a citizen-based model based in collaborative organizational spirit.
An initial strategy for success has been proposed. (Please see the “Action Plan” sub-link on the home page’s “About” tab.)
This commission’s life will depend on the financial support it receives from those who support its mission.
Just as the founders of the United States of America inspired a world with their call for human freedom, may we, the people engage in this national process to free our ourselves and our nation from our own inhumane social ways.
